Canadian Sport Awards
The mission of the Canadian Sport Awards is to honour the achievements of Canada’s amateur athletes and the coaches, volunteers, sport leaders and corporations that support them.
The Canadian Sport Awards (CSA) recognizes excellence in Canadian sport. These annual Awards are the best opportunity to pay tribute to the hard work, dedication and victories of our country’s finest athletes. In so doing, they also promote sporting excellence across Canada.
The Awards also remind Canadians how sport lifts the human spirit while acknowledging the true champions of sport: the athletes, coaches, volunteers, leaders and inspired youth. They celebrate the athletes and leaders who compete and inspire hope throughout the year.
The nomination period for the 40th Canadian Sport Awards (CSA) began August 16 and closed on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 5:00pm EST.
Canada’s definitive event for honouring and recognizing sport achievements will award recipients based upon accomplishments between January 1 and September 16, 2012.
The categories include: Junior Athlete of the Year, Leadership in Sport, Athlete Leadership, Volunteer Achievement Award, Corporate Excellence Award and the Spirit of Sport Story of the Year Award.
Additional Athlete Performance Awards (Male and Female Athlete of the Year, Partners of the Year and Team of the Year) are seeded by the Top 8 results published by Sport Canada, therefore no nomination form is required.
Finalists for each award will be announced on September 27, 2012 with the winners being announced on October 17, 2012 at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in Calgary.
