The True Sport Foundation announced the winners for the 36th Canadian Sport Awards (CSA) at an awards ceremony in Ottawa’s Water Court Gallery at the National Gallery of Canada. The awards event celebrated excellence in sport and honoured the athletes and leaders who competed and inspired hope throughout the 2008 calendar year.

Male Athlete of the Year: Eric Lamaze – Equestrian
Female Athlete of the Year: Chantal Petitclerc – Athletics
Junior Athlete of the Year: Sarah Reid – Skeleton
Team of the Year: Curling: Men's (K. Martin)
Partners of the Year: Rowing Men’s 8+

Leadership in Sport Award: Jane Roos – Canadian Athletes Now
Volunteer Achievement: Alain Maillé
Corporate Excellence Award: Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada Inc.
Spirit of Sport Story of the Year: Kyle Shewfelt – Gymnastics
